1. Click the "carrot" on the bottom right of your screen (system tray)

2. Select the icon of a globe

3. Click "Connect". If the client says "disconnect" you are already logged in.

4. Clicking "connect" will open a webpage for you to authenticate via Single Sign-On, after which you should only be asked to authenticate after rebooting or 30 days.
5. One thing that can help with the experience is to set your browser to always open the globalprotect authorization with the globalprotect client. That choice looks like this with the Edge browser, but most likely looks the same in Chrome:
